The History of the ferry service between Poole and Cherbourg and the resultant twinning links
This booklet was published in 2002 on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of twinning between Poole and Cherbourg. It details the ferry services between Poole and Cherbourg from 1865 and the resultant civic twinning links between the two towns with the signing of the Charter in 1977.
Unfortunately Brittany Ferries withdrew the Barfleur passenger ferry between Poole and Cherbourg in January 2010, just leaving the fast cat service, operating once daily during the summer months.
The service from Poole to Cherbourg using Barfleur was reinstated in February 2011.
